Serena Williams - Best WTA athlete in the world


Former World No.1 Serena Williams has been listed as the best WTA tennis athlete in the World; it was announced by the tennis analysts’, where American star holds No. 14th ranked in the WTA Rankings.  

The 13-time Singles Grand Slam champion Serena was selected No. 1 as a best WTA athlete in the world Conducted by the Danish newspaper along with tennis experts. The American star has finished with 54 points, World No. 1 ranked Caroline Wozniacki holds second position with 38 points, while Maria Sharapova stands at third spot with 29 points, Belgium star Kim Clijsters secured fourth position with 28 points and Victoria Azarenka at 5th spot with 7 points.

The 3-time US Open champion Serena has played amazing tennis this season, after her return back to court. Serena has won 2 WTA titles at 2011 western, southern open and Roger Cup and also reached final of the US Open tournament last month. The American has withdrawn from the Cincinnati masters, due to toe injury.

The 30-year-old Serena has withdrawn from the all tennis championships this season, as she was suffering from toe injury. The American top seed will play her next tournament at 2012 Brisbane International tournament, a WTA tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts. The tournament schedule will begin from 2nd to 9th January at will held at the Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson in Brisbane.
