Serena, Roddick to play mixed doubles at 2012 Australian Open


The World No. 14th ranked Serena Williams has announced that she and former World No. 1 ranked Andy Roddick will pair-up in the mixed doubles at the upcoming Grand Slam tournament at 2012 Australian Open. 

The former World No. 1 Serena has pulled out of the entire tournaments in 2011, where she sustained toe injury during the 2011 US Open tournament at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park in New York. Serena stated she will be pairing in the mixed doubles along with his country mate Andy Roddick at the 2012 Australian Open, which will be held at Melbourne Park in Melbourne from 16th to 29th January, 2012. 

The 29-year-old Serena also committed to play along with Andy Roddick for United States at 2012 London Olympics in the mixed doubles. The Seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams to play with American doubles star Bob Bryan, who has bagged record of 61 ATP doubles career titles. Serena has clinched 10 doubles major titles excluding Gold medals at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and Beijing Olympics in 2008 along with her sister Venus Williams.  

Serena also playing in the Brisbane International tournament next year, a WTA tennis event played on hard courts at the Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson. The other WTA top players also committed to play in the Brisbane International tournament like Russian Maria Sharapova, 2011 US Open winner Samantha and Kim Clijsters.
