Roger Federer through to Semis of US Open 2011


Former World No.1, Roger Federer completes his revenge of Wimbledon over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in US Open quarters. Federer overcome the battle of Tsonga in three straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 and confirm his place in semis’ where he will be facing world no.1 Novak Djokovic.

5-time US Open champion Roger Federer showed his class as he outplayed World No. 11 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in straight sets of the quarter final match at Flushing Meadows. Earlier, at the Wimbledon Tsonga got rid of Federer, the 16-Grandslam title winner has won first two but he went to lose last three sets to Tsonga. Federer never gave any chance to Tsonga to comeback.

Roger Federer just too 1 hour 52 minutes to defeat Tsonga, where Federer converted 6 out of 13 break points.  Meanwhile, World No.1 Novak Djokovic has reached semi finals by defeating his Davis Cup teammate Janko Tipsarevic. Tipsarevic retires from the match in the quarter finals as he sustained a injury on his leg in the US Open quarter, where Djokovic leads two sets to one with a 7-6(2), 6-7(4), 6-0 and 3-0 score line. 

Roger is fancying his chances to win his 6th US Open title and 17th Grand slam title, but he will be facing tough fight from top seeded Novak Djokovic in the semi finals.
