Novak Djokovic eyes for first US Open


World No. 1 Novak Djokovic who has coming from a great victory over Swiss star Roger Federer in the semi-finals of US Open 2011 at Flushing Meadows. The Serbian has been playing remarkable well this year, where he has reached third final at the US Open tournament on Sunday night.

The 24-year-old Djokovic, who has entered into the Grand Slam final at US Open last year, lost to Rafael Nadal in four sets with a 6–4, 5–7, 6–4 and 6–2.  Serbian is having 63-2 win loss record so far in this season, where he has lost only one match to Roger Federer in the 2011 French Open semi final at Roland Garros in four sets with a 7–5, 7–6(7–3), 5–7 and 6–1 score line. However, Djokovic has upper hand in the last five meetings as he defeated Nadal all time, that in the finals of grand slams.

Djokovic also lost in the 2007 US Open final to Federer in consecutive sets with a 7–6, 7–6 and 6–4 score line. In 2011 season, Djokovic, who has been showing high-level performance against all best players and looking forward to clinch the title for the first time ever on American soil.

Serbian star has won two Grand Slam title so far this year at Australian Open in January and Wimbledon crown in July, including six ATP World Tour titles. Djokovic also reached the Cincinnati Masters final to lift the ninth title, but pulled out of the final, due to shoulder injury. The 2011 Wimbledon champion Djokovic will take on Nadal in the US Open final on Monday night at the Arthur Ashe Stadium Court in Flushing Meadows in New York.
