Stuart Broad: unlikely to play for England in 2011


England T-20 skipper, Stuart Broad has admitted that he is unlikely to play again for England in 2011. Broad picked shoulder injury during the series against India. Broad said that he will not be playing this year as he recovers from the shoulder injury, although he has confirmed that there will not require any surgery.

Stuart Broad had already been ruled out of the matches against West Indies, earlier Broad has a hope retuning to team for one-day series in India, by saying that he might be fit to play in the Twenty20 at Kolkata at the end of October. Now, it appears to be he is unlikely make his tour of UAE in January which includes 3 Tests, 4 ODIs and 3 Twenty20s.

The fast bowler Stuart broad said that the shoulder is still quite sore and it is a two-month injury so he is concentrating on making sure that he is in the best possible shape for the games against Pakistan in January. Broad said that it is not 100% confirmed that he will not play in tour India but he will only play if the rehab goes fantastically well.

Broad's injury meant that England to appoint new Twenty20s captain fro West Indies tour, off-spinner  Graeme Swann, who is leading the lead the side in his absence. Broad will lead the T20 as a defending team at the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka next September. However, it is good news that Broad doesn't need surgery to his shoulder.

Swann excited to lead young England team


England new T20 skipper, Graeme Swann is excited to lead the young English team. Swann will be leading the England in two T20 series against West Indies in the absence of regulat T20 skipper Stuart Broad was sidelined due to shoulder injury.

The off-spinner and the stand-in captain said that he was really excited to lead some of the brightest and upcoming young talents like Jonny Bairstow who played an impressive hand against India in the final ODI. Swann added that these young guys are coming into a pressure situation, but they believe they were good enough to cope and outcome the pressure. 

Graeme Swann is the 5th captain who is leading England team in last one month, following up Alastair Cook, Andrew Strauss, Stuart Broad and Eoin Morgan. Swann said that he is sure that the young talent will very excite and they will feel some pressure and sure they will enjoy it once they get on to the park. The have got lads like Danny Briggs and Scott Borthwick coming into this squad who are superb young spinners with exceptional records in Twenty20.

However, the 2 matches will be a part of England's preparation for next year's world T20 championship to be held in Sri Lanka.

Swann to lead England T20 team, Stuart Broad sidelined


England off spinner, Graeme Swann will be the captain England in the T20 team for a two-match T20 series against West Indies later this month in the absence of T20 skipper Stuart Broad and Eoin Morgan.

Stuart Broad, the regular Twenty20 captain who began his Captaincy career against Sri Lanka earlier this season, was ruled out of the of England's ongoing home season, 5-match ODI series in India next month, after pulling a muscle tear to his right shoulder in the fourth ODI against India at Lord's. And Eoin Morgan, T20 vice-captain, was earlier ruled out of India tour due to shoulder surgery, while Kevin Pietersen continuing his rest period, Swann was one of the few viable options within the current Twenty20 to lead the England team.

Graeme Swann is a very talented off spinner and he is highly respected member of the England side, his experience and leadership qualities will be invaluable when he leads a young England team next week said the National selector. He also added that Swann is very much looking forward to the new challenge.

National selector Geoff Miller said that they have once again selected a blend of experienced international performers, along with exciting young players with a great deal of talent. As Jimmy Anderson made his way back into T20 side, with some new face in the side making their debutant is Yorkshire batsman Jonathan Bairstow, Hampshire spinner Danny Briggs and young Durham leg-spinner Scott Borthwick is the other addition to the squad.

England is scheduled to play the West Indies in T20 internatio0nals at The Oval on September 23 and 25.

Eoin Morgan will miss India tour, will undergo surgery


England's middle order batsman Eoin Morgan will undergo shoulder surgery which rules him out of ongoing ODI series against India. England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed the news that Morgan will be out of action for 3 months after he undergoes surgery. Specialist said that Morgan right shoulder needs to be operated. 

England is playing 5-match one-day series against India at home. Later, England will tour India for 5 ODIs and 1T20 starting in October. The Irish batsmen will miss the England tour of India. ECB medical officer Nick Peirce said that they have managed the injury with a conservative program but still Eoin Morgan has reached the stage where surgery is most appropriate progression of his treatment

The operation to his right shoulder will undertake a rehab process of approximately 12 weeks. The recovery period is anticipated to see him return to full fitness ahead of England's tour of the UAE commencing in January. Morgan is England's Twenty20 vice-captain, he also led England to victory against his native Ireland in a one-off ODI last month.
